Grow for Change

Grow for Change"The boys really enjoyed Grow for Change and they and the parents both commented on how good the cress gardens looked and what a great idea it was. The suggestions for related activities were good too, and I feel the boys gained a greater understanding of homelessness. It's a really good, well put together project and we all enjoyed taking part in it."

St Mungo's Broadway is introducing a cress growing project for schools; 'Grow For Change', as an educational and enjoyable way for children in Key Stage 2 to raise money as they learn about healthy eating, creating caring environments for growth and change and considering the link this has to homelessness.

Grow for Change is an activity that your school can take part in at any time of the year.

 How does it work?

1. Register your interest now and you will receive a free resource pack (see below)

2. Set a lesson aside for this activity, and we will provide you with a full lesson plan. During the lesson, pupils will build the houses for the cress from our easy to follow templates, plant the cress seeds and take part in activities and discussions on the subjects of healthy eating and healthy environments. The cress will need to be tended for a week during which pupils should be encouraged to raise money through the suggested activities in the resource pack.

3. One week later, the cress can be picked, money counted and another activity could be followed to reinforce the learning.

4. Send a cheque for the money raised to St Mungo's Broadway to the address below and receive your Grow for Change certificate.
